JAY BURRID is a full-time musician who has been playing drums for over 40 years and is known for his imaginative musical interpretations, He has been with the Richard Sherman Trio since 1985. Jay’s first love was jazz, but his career took off in Rock and Roll with Larry Williams (Boney Maroni, Slow Down) on the Alan Freed Show, the man who coined the term “Rock & Roll.” Before coming to L.A., Jay played in New York and Las Vegas and was on the road a lot. He has worked and recorded with Latin, blues, R&B, rock and roll, film stars, entertainers, and jazz artists such as Clark Terry, Benny Golson, Morgana King, Bill Evans, Bobby Darin, Jimmy Durante, Frankie Avalon, Doc Severinsen, Doug McClure, Little Richard, Johnny Tillotson, The Coasters, The Platters, Chubby Checker, Eric Burden, Jimmy Witherspoon, J.J. Cale, Bill Black, and numerous others. Jay co-founded the horn band, Chase, whith appeared on the Johnny Carson and Smothers Brothers shows and whose signature song was “Get It On.” Chase sold 3 million albums. Jay recorded the million-selling singles “Name of the Place” and “Tossin’ and Turnin” as well as albums with J.J. Cale and Bobby Darin, and he had the privilege of doing some tracks on Laurendo Almedia’s last album. Today, Jay does studio work and appears with bands throughout southern California. He is endorsed by Drum Workshop drums, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth drumsticks, and Remo, Inc.
